After the likes of a man beginning with the letter B, Nick Walker is Bristol’s most famed graffiti artist. As well as having been exhibited in galleries across the world, his work has been embraced by the film, fashion and record industry. He has had work commissioned by Stanley Kubrick and had his famous ‘Vandal’ character featured in cult music videos. Unlike many successful artists Nick Walker has continued to develop and push his style and thought provoking imagery. In his own words Nick Walker has said “I try to add an element of humour or irony to some paintings to add a little light relief to the walls. Painting is a form of escapism for me and if my work allows the spectator to do the same thing, then I’ve achieved more than I set out to do.” With a whole new range of previously unseen imagery having only recently cropped up on our streets, Nick Walker is undoubtedly one of the most exciting artists of our generation and someone who is going to continue pushing the boundaries of that which is considered ‘urban art’.
